Annual air show and aviation publication goes digital

Smoke on...Go!, the annual photobook which features South African air show event and performer news, has now widened its reach by launching a website and monthly newsletter.

The newsletter will feature in-depth views and interviews on all things to do with both aerobatic and commercial flying, breaking aviation industry news, local and international pilot profiles and insight from top industry specialists. The website will also include monthly tutorials aimed at both the commercial and aerobatic pilot.

"From our extensive experience within the aviation industry, we know that besides our talented pilots and aviators, there are also thousands of aviation enthusiasts in South Africa. This website is now another platform that speaks directly to them and supports the popular annual publication," says Hayley Horan, managing director of Creative Space Media.

"South Africa boasts some of the finest aviation talent in the world and we want to honour these heroes of the sky. Whether in the midst of the air show season, or today with all aerobatic planes grounded and all air shows cancelled or postponed, there remains a real interest and passion for this type of aviation news," she says.

While Covid-19 has severely impacted the running of air shows and aviation events both locally and internationally, the industry is optimistic that air shows will resume and continue to be some of the most popular and best-attended outdoor events in South Africa in the future.

Monthly editorial contributors include local and international aviators and aviation specialists, including Captain Scully Levin, one of South Africa’s aerobatic display pilots, with over 50 years of air show flying and 38 years of commercial airline flying under his belt.
