Lufthansa Group to give Airbus A320 Family new seats
Lufthansa, Swiss, and Austrian Airlines are introducing the standardised seats for the first time across airlines. The seats, which will be supplied by Italian manufacturer Geven, will come with a slim backrest and full foam seat cushions. Other features include ergonomic pressure distribution and fully-structured seat upholstery.
Special attention paid to design of backrest
Its slim backrest comes from the literature pocket that has been horizontally designed, the slimness allows for more room space. The backrest is also set to a 20-degree inclination throughout the journey of a flight, allowing less back-strain on users. Business Class guests may also set the backrest to 26 degrees during cruising altitude.
Paul Estoppey, head of product cabin at Lufthansa Group Hub Airlines says: "A lot of customer feedback went into designing the seat and we are pleased to have already received a lot of positive feedback on the implemented features over the course of the project.”
In addition to the advantages for customers, the focus of development was also aimed at reducing weight and maintenance costs.
