GIBS Associate Director: Personal & Applied Learning appointed to executive committee for international coaching institution
The GSAEC is an international institution that offers graduate schools a framework for ensuring quality, rigor and substance in coaching education. As a collaborative community, they partner with stakeholder organizations in higher education and the professional coaching community, to promote high quality graduate coach education and research. They provide Academic Program Standards and a self-study and peer review process for institutions and individual professionals who share a commitment to excellence in graduate coach education.
Tanya van Lill, director of academic programmes at GIBS said, “It is an honour to have Alison serve on such a high-level institution, it adds another feather to her cap and we are confident that with her experience and knowledge, she will add great value to the institution. Furthermore, we are certain that she will be able to plough her learnings back to GIBS and help advance our personal and applied learning programme.”
Alison who is an accredited professional coach and has a Masters in Business Executive Coaching, has been at the helm of PAL for over eight years as associate director, lead-coach, mentor and mentor-coach as well as facilitator. She has local and international experience in adult learning, business coaching and management development. Through PAL, Alison has spearheaded the creation of several initiatives that promote individual development and effectiveness. These initiatives leverage current theory and best practice in personal development approaches so that individuals can optimise their learning experience and apply this learning in the most impactful ways back in their workplaces.
Commenting on her appointment, Reid said, “I am honoured to have been invited to serve on this board and to contribute to their strategic objectives. It’s a wonderful privilege to work alongside highly respected university leaders, scholars and professionals in supporting a mission to uphold the quality, rigour and substance in academic standards for coaching education and research.”
“Having Alison as the only representative from Africa on this board means a lot to GIBS, especially as this not only strengthens the business school’s quest to improve individual and organisational performance but is also an opportunity to bring the voice of Africa’s higher education institutions to a global stage on par with other international business schools,” added van Lill.
