GKIM launches educational app

GKIM, founded by creative Graham Kelly and technologist Ian Morrison, has earned plaudits and extensive media coverage for two new educational and gaming apps.

Created for the launch of a new toy brand - their "Color the World" app has been in the news due to its innovative nature. Claimed to be the world's first 3D colouring app, it turns an iPad into a 3D colouring book, complete with high-end animation and interactive story telling.

The app was recently singled out for praise at two major trade shows: CES and the American International Toy Fair. Kelly notes: "CES is the world's largest consumer electronics show, and a huge number of apps were launched there, so it was encouraging that ours stood out."

The same app also created a stir at last week's American International Toy Fair, where over 100,000 new toys were launched.

The companion app to Color the World - an Augmented Reality (AR) game called Rainbow Racing - has recently been featured on ABC News amongst others. This app lets kids race down AR rainbows, steering via the iPad's built-in accelerometer. Points are earned by collecting letters to spell out words, making the app educational as well as fun.

In addition, GKIM is developing a campaign of apps and content to support the global roll-out of the Drip Drops range of toys and merchandise.

GKIM is a digital ideas company that works with agencies, brands and inventors. www.gkxim.com
