Mercedes-Benz Actros awarded two design accolades
The flagship truck from Mercedes-Benz won over the jury with the high quality and ergonomics of its interior and the consistent exterior design of the various vehicle variants. Following the Red Dot Design award from the Design Zentrum Nordrhein-Westfalen, the new Actros has now received three important awards for its design.
"We are incredibly proud of how perfectly form follows function in the new Actros. That's why we naturally are very pleased about this special recognition in the form of these coveted international design awards,"says Mercedes-Benz commercial vehicle design director Kai Sieber.
Ideal for long-distance transport
The German Design Award is conferred by a 30-member jury from the Design Council. This year the panel of judges evaluated some 1 500 submissions in ten categories and evaluation criteria were design quality, level of innovation, brand value, functionality, ergonomics and environmental compatibility. The official award ceremony of the German Design Award will be held at the Ambiente trade fair in Frankfurt in February 2013.
The new Actros model series has been rolling off the assembly lines in Wörth, Germany since 2011 and is ideal for long-distance transport. In response to continuously growing requirements for convenience, profitability, driving dynamics and portfolio diversity, the new Actros was developed from the ground up. The diversity of the portfolio, in particular with regard to equipment options and model variants, offers the perfectly configured vehicle for virtually any type of operations in long-distance transport. The new Actros is currently not available in South Africa.
