New CEO for Barloworld Logistics

Barloworld Logistics has appointed a new CEO for its Africa operations. Eric Gower-Winter takes over the reins from Isaac Shongwe on 1 January 2009 when Shongwe moves on to become CEO of the Barloworld Logistics group.

Gower-Winter has been with Barloworld Logistics for almost 15 years and is currently a divisional director with extensive experience in supply chain optimisation. His knowledge and experience gained through working in several industry verticals will be tested as he moves Barloworld Logistics further into Africa.

“There are exciting projects in the pipeline going forward that will affirm Barloworld Logistics' leadership position in the industry. I am thrilled to be taking over the helm of the Africa division at a time when we are at the top of our game,” said Gower-Winter.

“The road ahead seems exciting and yet challenging as we face the threat of a world recession. We are confident that our game plan will see us weather the storm. With Eric replacing me as CEO for the Africa division, and with the other changes that we have made to the leadership team, we are set for a productive 2009,” said Shongwe.

Barloworld Logistics believes that its unique ability to add an intellectual dimension to classic logistics services is what will take it into the next decade. Companies no longer want out-of-the-box solutions to complex and specific requirements; they're looking for tailor-made solutions from a service provider that understands their business. Barloworld Logistics' positioning as a 4th party logistics company allows for solutions to be customised to meet specific client needs at significantly lower costs.
