DAe to benefit from aerostructures budget allocation

DAe - previously Denel Saab Aerostructures, is part of the State-owned Denel defence industrial group. Gordhan's statement was welcomed by DAe CEO Ismail Dockrat.
"The recapitalisation is a vital strategic investment in a company that is at the forefront of high-tech[nology] manufacturing and advanced technology in South Africa," Dockrat tells Engineering News. "The skills and experience accumulated in DAe can be the basis for the future growth of the local aerospace and aviation sectors. This decision supports government industrial policy objectives of deepening aerospace advanced manufacturing capability in South Africa." This, he says, is complemented by the successful conclusion of a deal with Airbus to work on the A400M - the world's most advanced military airlifter.
DAe also produces major components for the Saab JAS39C/D Gripen fighter and has long-term contracts for work on the Gulfstream G150 business jet. In addition, the local company does work on the AgustaWestland A109 and A119 helicopters and the Rooivalk attack helicopter. DAe is also a Boeing-accredited supplier and produces some parts for Boeing aircraft.
