Finding an African solution for maternal deaths
Many maternal deaths in low-resource areas of Africa are caused by severe bleeding during childbirth, and while a uterine balloon tamponade (UBT) can save mothers' lives, it's expensive.
Therefore, Sinapi Biomedical is in the final stages of designing and testing a lower-cost alternative, in partnership with the South African Medical Research Council and PATH.
