Valencia Talane is a senior journalist and editor with Corruption Watch in Johannesburg. She has been with the organisation since 2012, and has investigated various cases that fall under topics like corruption, financial irregularities and maladministration in the public service. Her passion is delivering on Corruption Watch's social justice mandate, as evidenced by her articles over the years. Talane has followed the hearings of the state capture commission since their commencement in August 2018 with a view to documenting evidence shared therein. The articles are then sent to community media outlets that would have otherwise not been able to cover the hearings themselves. Through Talane's state capture commission work, Corruption Watch equips these outlets with regular content so their audiences are up to date with the goings-on at the commission.
