Michael Stein (AdvDipTax (CapeTown), MCom (Natal) CA(SA)) is a tax consultant based in Johannesburg. He is the author of the LexisNexis publications, Stein on Capital Gains Tax and Estate Duty Principles and Planning, is a co-editor of Income Tax Reporter and the South African Income Tax Guide and is co-author of the fifth edition of Broomberg on Tax Strategy.

He regularly contributes to the Tax Shock, Horror monthly newsletter and Tax Planning. He is also author of a weekly online column on tax matters for the LexisNexis TaxNet Service. A former lecturer at the University of Cape Town, Michael has presented tax seminars throughout South Africa for over 40 years and has contributed hundreds of articles on a wide range of topics affecting taxation over decades.
