Pluczenik CEO, Chaim Pluczenik, who founded Pluczenick in South Africa in 1948 and then moved to Antwerp, Belgium say the time was right to invest in the country.

“Through this investment we can help the country meet its beneficiation objectives and support communities in a country where diamonds have a long history and heritage,” he says.

The investment will create job opportunities, skills development, and bring new technology in the scarce downstream diamond beneficiation,” he adds.

Nungu Diamonds is a 100% black owned exclusive jewellery making company owned by Kealeboga Pule and his wife, Ursula.

“I have the opportunity to work with a world-class business that has operated for more than 70 years. One that has also been at the forefront of innovation and leadership.

“This partnership such as this is not just good for me, but for the whole industry in South Africa. It is a commitment to increased job creation after the industry was hard hit due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

"It is a positive story about diamonds, where South Africans are not just bystanders but are active parties in the diamond trade from mine to market,” he says.

“It is also definitely an exciting opportunity, one that is a dream come true for any young person in the diamond industry," Pule adds.

Pluczenik is one of the largest buyers of rough in the diamonds industry and has been a global De Beers sight holder for more than 60 years.

The company also has its sights on Botswana and Namibia.
