1000 drawings go on sale to help primary school students

A massive inner-city art sale, The Night of 1000 Drawings, will take place at the Good Hope Centre, Cape Town, on Thursday, 28 August, 2014, from 5pm. More than 5000 artworks on A5, collected over the last nine months from individual doodle sessions hosted at venues around the Mother City will be on sale.

For just R100, you could get your hands on a one-of-a-kind, original work (doodle) by tomorrow's big stars, or something beautiful to make you smile. Choose your doodle, mingle with other art lovers, enjoy a host of live bands, fill up on delicious food, and show off your artistic talent in live Doodle Battles, VJs and more!

Tickets are now available at www.quicket.co.za

Proceeds are going to be used to change the lives of the learners at the Thomas Wildschutt Primary School in Cape Town.

If the entrance fee of R100 happens to be unaffordable but you'd still like to be involved, you can volunteer your time to make this magical night happen!

Volunteers help with the following:
• Hanging drawings;
• Selling drawings;
• Making sure that people abide by the doodle rules;
• Helping people to purchase the doodles they want; and
• Helping set up during the day and pack down after.

These are just a few of the volunteer roles; there will be shifts to avoid working you all too much. Head to www.volunteersignup.org/LH9XL to sign up to be a volunteer.
