Lira, Holly Rey and Zamo Dlamini to perform at women-centred concert in Sobekeng

The concert is aimed at celebrating today’s women while remembering yesterday’s heroines and their contribution to society.

One Big Entertainment – the company behind the event and others such as Jazz by river festival, #GoVaal Festival and Human Rights Music Festival – has emphasised that the concert is strictly about women.

Women-owned businesses will be acquired for services such as catering, stalls, employment opportunities and security.

“This event is of paramount importance, it takes place during August, which is popularly known as Women’s Month. This is a historical month in our country, where 20,000 women staged a march to the union buildings in protest against the proposed amendments to the urban areas act of 1950, commonly referred to as the pass laws.

Some of the key issues affecting women in this day and age such as genocide, sexual and gender-based violence, inequalities etc. will be highlighted,” says Khulu Malindi, One Big Entertainment CEO.
