Billed as Africa’s largest amateur five-a-side football tournament Castle Africa 5s boasts the ultimate prize with the winners of the continental tournament walking away with an all-expenses paid trip to the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia.

The growing popularity of amateur five-a-side football can be attributed not only to the fast-paced on-field action but also to the friendships, both on- and off-pitch, built between teams and team mates. This made the sport a natural fit for tournament sponsors Castle Lager, already a staunch supporter of African football.

“Castle Lager has always fortified the bonds of belonging and true friendship. We believe that social football is an ideal platform to sustain these significant societal interactions,” said Vaughn Croeser, Castle Lager Brand Director.

“We are proud to have been selected to host the finals of the South African tournament at the 2018 Rand Show,” says Craig Newman, Show Director of the Rand Show. “It is fitting that a heritage brand such as Castle Lager should partner with the Rand Show to host an event that celebrates camaraderie and friendship in a fun-filled setting.”

For over a century the Rand Show has been a favourite family holiday destination and the introduction of the Castle Africa 5s introduces yet another exciting element to our line-up. The tournament provides opportunities for friends and families to cheer on their favourite teams whilst enjoying the festive atmosphere of the Midweek Festival.

To stand a chance of winning the South African event five-a-side teams need to compete in one of a series of six qualifying tournaments being held in the run-up to this year’s Rand Show. Entry to the qualifiers costs R1000 per five-a-side team with prize money of R5000 up for grabs at each qualifier.

So gather your most athletic friends and enter to stand a chance of winning the dream prize. Be prepared for a huge tussle at the South African national tournament taking place at the Rand Show from Wednesday 4 – Saturday 7 April 2018.
