The SpaceStation takes top honours at this year's MOST Awards

The SpaceStation has walked away with the Overall Media Owner of the Year award at this year's MOST Awards, held on Tuesday evening (3 September) in Johannesburg. This is the first time in the history of the awards the overall media owner winner has come from the digital category, proving, once again, that digital is well and truly establishing itself as a mainstream channel.

But it's not just about the growth of digital. It's also about service delivery, which, says Brad Aigner of Freshly Ground Insights, the research company who manage the voting and results of the MOST Awards, is something The SpaceStation clearly excels in.

"The SpaceStation were rated most highly by voters in the 'knowledge of own brands' and 'service delivery' criteria, taking them from their previous best of sixth position on the best-of-the-best table to that of overall winner," says Aigner. "The agency has always been a top performer in the annual MOST Awards survey showing that there is no substitute for class and consistency," he adds.

Says Gustav Goosen, CEO of The SpaceStation: "We have always held the MOST Awards in very high regard and are thrilled with this win. This award is the result of a lot of hard work and dedication from The SpaceStation team and as a digital media 'owner', it is inspiring to have been acknowledged overall. Many more local advertisers and agencies have up skilled and increased their digital knowledge; this allows us to realise the potential of digital, the profound impact it has had and will continue have."

The SpaceStation received 65 votes in the digital category with a weighting of 8.51. They garnered 20 more votes than the 2nd and 3rd place winners; Demographica and Times Media LIVE. Their impressive 8.51 weighting put them at the top of the list across all media groups, making them the overall media owner winner. The 2nd and 3rd place in the overall media owner group went to Times Media Group with 8.50 and Ndalo Media with 8.49.

The MOST Awards are an annual research-based award that encourages excellence in service delivery and innovation from media owners and agencies. The entire awards ceremony was streamed live. The edited and full versions of the awards can be found on www.webcam.tv or www.themediaonline.co.za.
