The IIE Vega, Johannesburg campus, has a vacancy for a part-time academic navigator (lecturer) for the second semester, for the following modules: Motion design technology and digital design technology 3B.

Job purpose

Lecture based on provided content, ensure students are guided and supported in their learning. Mark student submissions and engage with campus teaching and learning.

Key performance areas

• Prepare for lectures based on provided content. Supplement content with own expertise.
• Deliver assigned modules to the stated outcomes and contracted hours.
• Mark student assessments and provide constructive feedback.
• Support student academic success by implementing workshops where needed.
• Perform academic admin, such as capturing assessment marks and reporting on student success.
• Provide content feedback.
• Engage with professional development opportunities and attend initial training sessions.

Minimum qualification requirements

Ideal (Motion design technology):

• Ideal honours candidate will have experience with 3D creation software Blender.
• Honours or master’s degree in digital design, multimedia design, motion design, interaction design or animation.
• Professional portfolio to illustrate expertise in industry standard 3D animation software.

Ideal (Digital design technology):

• Ideal candidate could be a multimedia designer with experience in augmented reality, Spark AR.
• Honours or master’s degree in digital design, multimedia design, motion design, interaction design or animation.

Alternatively:

• Undergraduate qualification in a relevant design field, and an NQF 8 or higher qualification in higher education.
• Plus, Adobe and Autodesk Maya/3DS Max certification.
• BA Hons or masters in a cognate field with knowledge and experience of designing for augmented and virtual reality.

Minimum work experience requirements

• At least three years’ industry experience in digital design or game design, including using game engines to create simulations, augmented reality and virtual reality.
• Experience in Blender.
