Senior Data Scientist
An African financial services organisation that offers a broad spectrum of financial solutions, along with a great culture, leadership, learning opportunities, challenges, rewards and recognition for its employees, is seeking a senior data scientist. The successful candidate will be accountable for designing, producing, analysing, documenting and enhancing a range of predictive models across the entire credit life cycle.
Responsibilities:
- Understand and interpret business requirements and translate them into analytical reporting solutions.
- Play a leading role in the development and application of predictive models across the entire credit life cycle.
- Conduct continuous research aimed at identifying predictors and enhancing model development practices and techniques.
- Monitor and report on the effectiveness of scorecard strategies.

Qualifications and experience:- Degree in statistics, mathematics, applied mathematics, financial risk management, data science, engineering, computer science or a related discipline.
- An honours or master’s degree would be advantageous.
- Minimum five years’ experience.
- Proficiency in SQL.
- Experience in machine learning.
- Proficiency in one of SAS, R or Python.
- Experience in extracting data from databases is compulsory.
- Understanding and knowledge of predictive modelling practices, performance standards and methodologies.
The reference number for this position is NG59603. This is a twelve-month contract position in Johannesburg offering a salary of R1 million up to R1.3 million CTC, negotiable based on experience.
