Job description: Electrical assistant

Location of company: NEP - Ferndale, Randburg
Location of project: Nelspruit
Reports to: Operations manager

Qualifications and skills

• Grade 12
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Deadline driven
• Excellent interpersonal skills
• Detail-oriented
• Ability to follow instructions
• Highly motivated individual with strong self-management skills
• High level of trustworthiness and ethical conduct
• Physically fit to meet the daily demands of an electrical assistant
• Willingness to travel to sites
• Ability to work in a typical electrical work environment

Responsibilities

• Placing and drawing in of conductors into wireways
• Installing and connecting lighting, cookers, water heaters, PV systems, low voltage systems, and DC systems, including systemised and innovative wiring systems, distribution boards, and inverters
• Installing underfloor heating systems
• Jointing cables using epoxy or other approved methods and connecting them when the supply is switched off
• Performing simple arc welding
• Carrying out the duties of an electrical assistant, general assistant, or Elconop 1
• Assisting a master installation electrician, an installation electrician, an electrical tester for single-phase, an electrician/artisan, and an Elconop 3
