Show profile Hide profileMy name is Tarquin Wilkinson, I was born and raised in Johannesburg, with my formative years being in a township on the urban periphery. I attended primary school at a Roman Catholic institution, where I was taught about the values of Christianity. I then attended high school at Saheti, (the South African, Hellenic Technical Institute), in Senderwood, Johannesburg, where I was exposed to a more multicultural and international climate. It instilled in me the values of respect, open-mindedness, tolerance, moderation and a love of knowledge and learning. Upon completing matric I immediately travelled abroad to pursue my tertiary education in the U.S.A at the University of California, Riverside, where I attained my Bachelor of Science degree, from the School of Business Administration.
Aside from its many other distinctions, the UCR School of Business Administration (SoBA) is an AACSB-accredited institution. This distinction places the business school in a league above most others. Below are some facts about AACSB accreditation: Only five percent of business schools in the world are AACSB-accredited. Twenty percent of companies recruit only from AACSB-accredited business degree programs. In keeping with the AACSB imprint of excellence, SoBA centers its efforts around two central themes:
1. Innovation, Entrepreneurship and Economic Growth
2. Leadership, Strategic Thinking and Personal Growth.

As is the practice in the U.S university system, I was exposed to a wide range of subjects in Business Administration, although my main courses were corporate strategy, corporate finance, micro and macro-economics, managing human resources, corporate ethics, logic and critical reasoning, marketing and distribution management, decision analysis and management science, production and operations management, financial evaluation and managerial analysis, sociology of economic organizations, organizational behavior and urban economic problems. I learnt about solutions to urban economic challenges, such as the economics of urbanization, migration, low access to amenities, gentrification of blighted areas and so on, we dealt with city structuring and the need for polycentricity in some cases, (especially in South Africa). I took many more courses although I believe the courses mentioned above are the most relevant from a corporate perspective.
During my time back in South Africa I have worked as a researcher in economic studies for Utho Capital and the City of Johannesburg, I have also worked as a coordinator and team leader for the first waste to energy and particularly "waste Characterization" study. I am a very motivated and ambitious 24 year old male. I am energetic and inclined to challenge myself. I am very excited to join the South African workforce I do not have a lot of experience, but I do have a very good work ethic and I am a fast learner, keen to emerge myself fully into the culture and pool of know-how that your firm can offer me.
