Following its acquisition early this year by Famous Brands, Milky Lane has produced a new corporate look for the summer season. Designed and executed by Switch, the identity was inspired by memories of happy childhood days, soft-serve and running after the neighbourhood ice-cream van.

At the biennial general assembly of the International Council of Communication Design (Icograda), held in Taiwan last week, the council elected Switch ECD Gaby de Abreu as Africa's new representative on its executive board. He was nominated for this role in his capacity as representative of the Brand Design Council of South Africa, which has now been incorporated within the new Brand Council of SA (BCSA) .

The Brand Design Council is the new name and brand for Think, after nine years. The original identity was designed by Nathan Reddy. The new name is designed to move the identity towards a clearer statement of what it represents.

This year The Loerie Awards had two international judges and a number of changes to the judging and entry process this year to ensure impartiality. All entries were labelled anonymously - no agency names visible - and there was a ballot system for voting, instead of the traditional show of hands.
