Nike on show at SA Fashion Week

Nike's exhibition stand at this year's SA Fashion Week offered Nike an opportunity to showcase its latest sport-inspired range of products for both men and women. Hugely popular overseas, Nike believes this range will inspire the sport savvy, fashion conscious South African consumer.

Tracy Lee Lynch, artist and creative guru, was contracted by Nike to design an innovative and unique space relevant to the brand and to fashion: "By using a combination of materials, including chrome, Perspex, powder coated furniture and specially designed wallpaper, we created a fresh and vibrant look for the stand.

"The end result was a hi-tech and elegant space that was visually stimulating and that worked for the product on display."

Lynch also used the skills of local artists and designers, including Mila and Peet Pienaar and Heidi Chisholm: "We have enormous talent in this country and this was an opportunity to showcase the skills of these artists and designers."

In 1979, Nike launched its first short/middle distance track spike specifically designed for women. The 2005 Nike Sprint Sister pays tribute to this unique and defining shoe and is engineered to meet the demands of 21st century living.

Inspired by the track, but engineered for the street, the Nike Shox Rival shoe has a feminine silhouette and is inspired by the 100-200 meters Monster Fly sprint spike, designed by Steven Smith and worn by Shawn Crawford when he won the gold medal in the 200 meters at the last Olympics in Athens.
