SARS storms out of transfer pricing summit

Representatives of the South African Revenue Service (SARS) stormed out of the annual Africa Transfer Pricing Summit on Thursday after a senior revenue official interrupted a tax professor during her presentation and suggested that the content of the presentation was misrepresenting SARS.

This forced the organisers of the event‚ the South African Institute of Tax Practitioners‚ to cancel the remainder of the session. A number of revenue authorities from other African countries voiced their discontent when the announcement of the closure was made‚ as they felt SARS should not have reacted this way by ruining what they felt was an informative event.
