Visiting vino

In early September, RMB WineX returns to Cape Town for the sixth consecutive year, compliments of Rand Merchant Bank, to offer wine-lovers the opportunity to visit many of the Cape's wine routes over three days. With over 1200 wines per night on offer, from close to 200 South African and international producers, visitors will be spoilt for choice.

Old favourites like Bouchard Finlayson, De Toren, Hamilton Russell, Rustenberg, Springfield and Vergelegen and cutting-edge wineries like Cape Point Vineyards, Oak Valley, Raka and Saronsberg will once again be showcasing their fine wines at this illustrious show. Patrons can also sample wines from newcomers like Creation Wines, Kingsriver Estate, La Vigne and Topiary Wines.

Whether you are looking for the latest well-priced treasure or seeking rare award-winning wines, WineX will bring you an infinite selection. There will be numerous laureates from the 2008 Old Mutual Trophy Wine Show, the Decanter World Wine Awards and the International Wine Challenge, as well as an array of the Platter Guide- and WINE Magazine's multi-starred selections.

Once again, visitors will be able to Shop@Show, at Wine Route Cellar Door prices, with free delivery within a 50km radius of Cape Town. This feature could transform your WineX experience, a virtual trip around the Cape winelands, into a shopping escapade.

The popular Best-Wine-on-Show Awards will once again be held with the winners determined by public opinion. WineX-goers are afforded an opportunity to cast their ballots, voting for their favourite wines in the award-categories of Best White Wine- and Best Red Wine- on Show.

Hand-crafted cheese, sushi, oysters and olive oils will also be on offer, and for the discerning consumer, imported and local wine accessories and glassware will be on sale.
