PinkDrive takes to the road in KZN
To celebrate the life of Madiba, PinkDrive, together with the Revolutionary Motorcycle Club, is carrying out mammograms, pap smears, prostate-specific antigen screening and health education at the Nelson Mandela Youth Centre in Chatsworth, KwaZulu-Natal.
“It is common knowledge that cancer health services in KZN are extremely limited," says Noelene Kotschan, CEO and founder of PinkDrive.
The two women’s cancer health units, sponsored by the Embassy of Japan, are affectionately known as Shobu (Japanese iris) and Sakura (cherry blossom), and will offer cervical cancer screening in the form of pap smears, clinical breast examinations and education to address breast cancer and basic infant services, to the medically uninsured.
“PinkDrive addresses non-communicable diseases and helps our department to ensure that we can keep our citizens healthy,” says Hendrietta Bogopane-Zulu, deputy minister of social development.
