  • Full accounting function: Manage the complete accounting cycle, ensuring that all transactions are processed up to trial balance.
  • Management accounts and IFRS compliance: Prepare and compile management accounts in strict adherence to IFRS guidelines.
  • Financial analysis: Analyze financial data to detect variances, identify weaknesses and potential risks, providing actionable insights for decision-making.
  • Budgeting and forecasting: Lead the preparation of budgets and forecasts, presenting findings to senior management with clarity and precision.
  • Month-end processes: Prepare and organize month-end files with supporting documentation, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
  • Billing and invoices: Generate monthly billing information and invoices, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
  • Audit support: Prepare comprehensive audit packs and schedules for external auditors, ensuring all required documentation is in place.
  • Journal entries and provisions: Process adjusting journal entries and account for provisions in accordance with financial policies.
  • Intercompany reconciliation: Oversee the reconciliation of intercompany loans and transactions, ensuring consistency and accuracy.
  • Process oversight: Provide oversight and guidance to the Accounts Payable (AP), Accounts Receivable (AR), Bank Reconciliations, and Petty Cash processing teams.
  • Fixed assets management: Maintain and update fixed asset registers, ensuring all supporting documentation is accurately recorded.
  • Tax calculations and VAT: Calculate Income Tax and VAT obligations, ensuring compliance with relevant tax laws and regulations.
  • VAT reconciliations: Prepare and review VAT reconciliations in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Cash flow management: Monitor and manage cash flow, ensuring optimal liquidity for day-to-day operations.
  • Bank transfers and payments: Approve and release inter-account bank transfers, beneficiary details, and payments, ensuring accuracy and compliance with internal controls.
  • Discrepancy resolution: Investigate and resolve accounting discrepancies and irregularities, providing solutions where necessary.
  • Statutory returns: Submit monthly statutory returns (e.g. EMP201, VAT201), ensuring timely filing and compliance.
  • Bi-annual recons: Prepare and submit bi-annual reconciliations (EMP501) and IRP5’s to ensure accurate payroll records.
  • SARS management: Process SARS payments, maintain SARS accounts, and attend to SARS audits, ensuring full compliance.
  • Tax learance and CIPC duties: Manage applications for tax clearance certificates, submit and pay CIPC annual duties in a timely manner.
  • Team management and training: Lead, manage, and train subordinates to meet the department's expectations, fostering a collaboraticve and high-performance team environment.
  • Software and templates: Maintain financial and administrative software, ensuring the smooth operation of accounting systems and the accuracy of templates.
  • Financial statement preparation: Assist in drafting financial statements for the group, ensuring compliance with applicable accounting standards.
Requirements:

  • Educational qualifications: A degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. Professional certifications such as SAICA/ACCA or equivalent are preferred.
  • Experience: A minimum of 5-7 years of experience in financial accounting or a similar role, with at least 3 years in a senior position. Post article experience beneficial
  • Strong knowledge of IFRS and taxation: A solid understanding of IFRS standards, tax regulations, VAT, Income Tax, and compliance processes.
  • Technical skills: Proficiency in accounting software (Sage X3), Microsoft Excel (advanced level), and other financial tools.
  • Analytical abilities: Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex financial data and provide actionable insights.
  • Leadership skills: Proven leadership ability, with experience in managing, training, and developing teams.
  • Attention to detail: Exceptional attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining accurate financial records.
  • Communication skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex financial information to non-financial stakeholders.
