Senior Azure Data Scientist

A leading information technology and business consulting firm, providing specialised solutions to enterprises across the private and public sectors, is looking for a senior data scientist to join its AI and data analytics department. This role offers an exciting opportunity to design and develop machine learning (ML) and artificial intelligence (AI) solutions using Microsoft Azure. The successful candidate will work with large datasets, build predictive models, and integrate advanced analytics into business operations.

Responsibilities

Data management and engineering

• Set up and manage data lakes on Microsoft Azure.
• Ingest data from various sources, including sensors, databases, and logs, using Azure Data Factory or Azure Stream Analytics.
• Transform and prepare data to ensure high-quality input for machine learning models.
• Perform feature selection and data engineering to optimise model performance.

AI and machine learning development

• Build, deploy, and refine predictive machine learning models on Azure.
• Monitor and maintain models, setting up alerts for anomalies and performance drifts.
• Integrate AI and ML insights into business applications to drive decision-making.

Training and knowledge sharing

• Develop training materials and conduct sessions for IT and business users.

Qualifications and experience

Education

• Bachelor's or higher degree in data analytics, statistics, actuarial science, computational mathematics, quantitative fields, computer science, or finance.

Technical proficiency

• Strong expertise in Python, Spark, Azure AI/ML services, and Power BI.
• Experience with real-time data processing, IoT, and sensor data pipelines is advantageous.
• Ability to work on large-scale AI projects with a high degree of accuracy.
• Microsoft Azure Data Scientist Associate certification (or equivalent).

Business and soft skills

• Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
• Ability to translate AI insights into practical business solutions.
• Excellent communication skills to engage with stakeholders at all levels.
• Experience in training and knowledge transfer for technical and non-technical users.
