Total ditches offshore exploration in SA
French oil major, Total, has put the brakes on its South African offshore oil and gas exploration plans, in favour of developing its two significant gas finds near Mossel Bay.

Early estimates on the first field, Brulpadda, indicate that it holds between 500-million to over 1-billion barrels of oil equivalent. ,
The second, Luiperd, is expected to yield even more.
This is despite concerns from the sector that the government is dragging its feet in finalising long-awaited upstream oil and gas legislation.
