Jacaranda Day

A stellar cast of top artists included the likes of Arno Carstens, Bobby van Jaarsveld, Karen Zoid, Brandon October, Jay, Kurt Darren, Elvis Blue, Juanita du Plessis and the ever-popular hit group, Mango Groove.

Some 10 000 people, including Jacaranda 94.2's mysterious purple man, attended the day that kicked off with Frankie Fire and Kinky Robot on stage just after noon, and concluded LATE on Saturday night with a spectacular performance by Theuns Jordaan.

Festivities were moved aside for a few minutes to address a more serious issue: Earth Hour was celebrated at 20h30 along with the rest of the world with several artists singing 'Heal the World', led by Juanita Du Plessis. Earth-friendly sky lanterns were released by Jacaranda 94.2's presenters to mark this moment in an almost completely dark Supersport Park.
