ASA rules Shell SA must withdraw ad

The Advertising Standards Authority (ASA) has ruled that several aspects of the Shell South Africa's hydraulic fracturing (fracking) advertisement, which appeared in newspapers in April 2011, were "unsubstantiated and misleading" and need to be withdrawn. The ruling was welcomed by Jonathan Deal, chairman of the Treasure the Karoo Action Group, which laid the complaint.
