Scan Retail supplies Zambian mall with retail kiosks

Manda Hill is a modern shopping centre in Lusaka, Zambia. In 2017, it was refurbished and extended to increase its footprint to 55,000m². This makes it one of the largest malls in Africa outside of South Africa.

As part of the mall’s upgrade, Atterbury Africa, the property development company that owns Manda Hill, decided to increase the centre’s retail capacity by placing retail kiosks in under-utilised spaces. They approached Scan Retail, a South African retail display specialist, to provide a suitable solution.

Chantel de Lange, an account executive at Scan Retail, oversaw this project. She says, “We were able to supply four beautiful kiosks within budget. Scan Retail also trained a local Zambian team how to assemble the kiosks during their installation. This means a local workforce will now be able to cost-effectively maintain the retail kiosks over time. This is a huge benefit for Broll, the managing agents for Atterbury Africa.”

The installation of four kiosks was successfully completed in March last year, and, as a result of how well the kiosks functioned, Atterbury Africa decided to do a second roll-out.

Chantel says, “Another four kiosks were ordered, and they increased the budget to include some additional features – such as trolley bumpers, and a back wall and door. These new features were also upgraded to all existing kiosks.”

The second installation was completed in January 2018.
