Scan Retail's Modular Retail Kiosk proves its popularity with retail property owners

Shopping centres wanting to make the most of empty floor space, and small retailers looking for affordable platforms to sell their products, have turned to Scan Retail's Modular Retail Kiosk (MRK). The unit is secure and compact, and can be designed to fit any space and budget.

“As Scan Retail has grown over the years, we have had more and more requests from shopping centres for a flexible approach to retail kiosks,” says Alex Hawes, Managing Director of Scan Retail. “Through brainstorming, we have adopted a design that can be adapted to the needs of each retailer.”

Hawes adds that the MRK is ideal for property owners who would like to increase revenue in large retail environments such as shopping centres. Since its release in 2014, the MRK has been used successfully in various shopping centres around South Africa, including Kenilworth Centre, Cresta Shopping Centre and the V&A Waterfront.

The design of the MRK has a contemporary feel that lends itself well to the look and feel of modern shopping malls, while its modular nature allows for easy configuration for the needs of retailers.

The MRK is completely flexible in size to fit comfortably in a shopping centre where property owners have the space to promote a retailer says Hawes. “Shopping centres are using the MRK to give opportunities to smaller retailers in high footfall areas and aisle spaces. They also offer a secure environment for retailers that wouldn’t usually be able to afford the rentals associated with a more formal retail space.”

Larger retailers are also using the MRK to create a link between their main retail outlet or brand, and a current promotion or activation.

The MRK is made from durable surfaces that retain their sleek look during use. The maintenance of the unit is simple, ensuring its pristine matte or gloss condition for extended periods.

The MRK’s design is anchored in Scan Retail’s core value of sustainability, using modular designs, LED lighting and reusable Tension Fabric System (TFS) branding.

The MRK provides additional revenue opportunities for shopping centres, while allowing companies additional branding and sales opportunities for prospective shoppers.
