Openfield takes home silverware at Sport Industry Awards

In a star-spangled Discovery Sport Industry Awards evening in Sandton, where the who's who of South African sport came together to celebrate award winning work across the business of sport, Openfield claimed the award for the Best Use of Digital Communication in Sport - Vodacom Rugby Stats App.

"It is a massive honour to be recognised for the hard work that is invested in the different campaigns in the sport sponsorship space. This would not have been possible without the hard work by the various departments and our sport sponsorship agency, Openfield," commented Vodacom's Brand Manager - Sponsorships and Regional marketing, Janus Kloppers.

The agency had their clients shortlisted in five different categories which included Best New Sponsorship - Engen and Supersport United "Proud to be Blue"; Best Use of Digital Communication in Sport - Vodacom Rugby Stats App Digital; Best Sponsorship of a Sport Event or Competition - Vodacom Durban July and Vodacom SuperRugby 2014; and Sport Participation Event of the year - Vodacom Bulletjies Rugby.

Openfield Sponsorship Director Michelle van Eyden said the award was a major feather in their cap in the competitive sport sponsorship industry.

It is a great privilege for Openfield to have been nominated in four out of the eleven categories, alongside the leaders in the sports industry in our country," van Eyden said.

The past year has been a significant one for Openfield, with the recent announcement that four competing, market-leading sponsorship and experiential agencies in South Africa had merged to form the Openfield Group. Openfield was also the recipient of an equal highest number of shortlisted entries and won the second most agency awards on the night, in its first year as a unified entity.
