South Africa's m-commerce up 35%, Nigeria is Africa's biggest e-commerce market, and Kenya primed for massive growth
Chinese smartphone brand Tecno Mobil has bested Korean giant Samsung for handset sales in Africa in 2020. Counterpoint Research's Market Monitor service announced this week that the Transsion Holdings-owned brand's launch of handset models in the affordable segment and continued market spending has allowed it to make significant inroads on the continent.
The recently released Knight Frank Africa Horizons Report 2021/22, ranked Nairobi as the top city in Africa for innovation, followed by Cape Town in second, Kampala third, with Cairo and Johannesburg at fourth and fifth place respectively.
Cola-Cola Beverages Africa (CCBA), Africa's largest Coca-Cola bottling partner, has released audited results of the Coca-Cola system's 5by20 women empowerment programme, which revealed that 2 million women in Africa have been equipped through the initiative to succeed as entrepreneurs.

Air France has announced that it will be expanding its operations on the African continent with increased flights between Paris-Charles de Gaulle and Johannesburg, and a brand-new route to Maputo, Mozambique from 20 June 2021.
