Ninety9cents is a full service, integrated advertising agency located in Cape Town, and is one of South Africa¹s largest independently-owned agencies. Led by founder and Managing Director Andrew Brand, the agency¹s extensive client base includes leading brands such as Shoprite/Checkers, Ackermans, PUMA and the Spur Group, to name but a few. 

We are seeking a talented and experienced digital copywriter to join our growing Creative Team. Applicants must demonstrate creative insight and brilliance for client solutions across all digital media platforms with a background in ATL copywriting on more traditional media as a complimentary skill-set. 

We are looking for a strategic thinker who can brainstorm ideas, develop concepts, and produce thoughtful, irresistible messaging for digital media. Reporting to the Creative Director, the successful candidate must be a gifted, detail-obsessed big thinker and a passionate and hard-working, self-motivated team player with the ability to grasp a client's strategy and brand, and deliver beautiful; insightful and polished work. Examples of creative work must be supplied with applications. 

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
  • Scope, plan and manage the creative process on various projects and campaigns
  • Manage and mentor the creative team
  • Work with other Agency teams to ensure cohesive integration and alignment with broader business objectives
  • Participate in pitches for new business
  • Define the aesthetic of overall digital campaigns
  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Generate ideas for campaigns and pitch winning ideas to the Creative Team
  • Create great copy across multiple digital channels
  • Consistently produce creative elements against KPI's
  • Lead brainstorms and conceptualisation sessions
  • Lead the craft and design of an idea
  • Compile presentations for clients
  • Attend client briefings and present to clients


    Requirements include:
    • Relevant tertiary qualification
    • At least five years' experience as a digital copywriter in an advertising agency
    • Proven ability to work under extreme pressure with exceptionally tight deadlines
    • Great problem-solving abilities
    • Strong presentation skills
    • In-depth working knowledge of existing and emerging technologies and platforms
    • Strong understanding of best practise interaction and visual design principles
    • Solid understanding of strategic processes within an advertising agency environment
    • Excellent time-management and effective communication skills
    • Previous experience in leading a creative team is crucial
