The ideal candidate will work within a team solving complex problems to deliver real business value across various industries. They will also contribute to best practices and improvements in data engineering across the business.
Responsibilities
- Create data models from various sources and store them in a usable format.
- Lead the design, implementation, and successful delivery of large-scale, critical data solutions.
- Utilise expertise in SQL and have a strong understanding of ETL and data modelling.
- Ingest data into AWS S3 and perform ETL into RDS or Redshift.
- Use AWS Lambda (C# or Python) for event-driven data transformations.
- Design and implement security measures to protect data from unauthorised access or misuse.
- Automate the migration process in AWS from development to production.
- Deliver digestible, contemporary, and immediate data content to support and drive business decisions.
- Plan, estimate, and analyse delivery requirements, data architecture, and pipeline design.
- Design and implement complex data solutions.
- Optimise cloud workloads for cost, scalability, availability, governance, and compliance.
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems, or a related field.
- AWS certifications: AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner, AWS Certified SysOps Associate, AWS Certified Developer Associate, AWS Certified Architect Associate, AWS Certified Architect Professional, Hashicorp Certified Terraform Associate.
- Five years of Python/C# development experience.
- Three years of AWS data engineering experience.
The reference number for this position is NG58780, which is a contract position based in Johannesburg, offering a salary negotiable from R650,000 up to R850,000 CTC per annum, based on experience.
