AFDA is inviting applications for the position of acting programme coordinator and senior lecturer in postgraduate diploma in innovation (PGDI).
Roles and responsibilities
Summary
- Have a comprehensive knowledge of the programme to ensure that the programme is maintained throughout delivery
- Ensure that all prescribed curriculum and pedagogical strategies are delivered.
- Ensure that the prescribed programme timetable and class attendance are maintained.
- Ensure that the prescribed programme assignments and assessments are completed.
- Ensure that all prescribed term projects have been completed and that the associated facilities, equipment and budgets to achieve this are properly managed.
- Ensure that all programme statutory requirements and reports are adhered to and completed.
Additional detail:
- Have a comprehensive knowledge of the programme to ensure that the programme is maintained throughout delivery
- Acquire and maintain an up-to-date understanding of the PGDI by completing the AFDA onboarding process, attending all staff training sessions and be familiar with all course materials
- Have an advanced understanding of the theoretical and practical aspects of their discipline.
- Have a thorough understanding of their discipline curriculum
- Conduct research to develop up-to-date lesson plans and lecture content for their discipline
- Deliver lectures according to timetabled sessions and do the required consultations.
- Be knowledgeable in all contact and online pedagogical approaches as they apply to their discipline and practice them appropriately according to the designated requirements
- Have a thorough understanding of all assessment instruments and use them appropriately for all learning activities.
- Adhere to all Registry requirements by ensuring that all assessments are marked, and marks are captured within the required deadlines; as well as participating in all internal and external moderation procedures
Manage their discipline students by ensuring that:
- Students understand the term’s assignments, assessments and associated assessment instruments and deadlines
- Students stay on track with the term’s deliverables through regular follow ups where required
- All facilities and equipment for the term’s teaching and the term’s project are available, functional and maintained
- The term’s resources are adequately planned for o All assignments are marked and all marks are submitted timeously to the registry for moderation and report generation.
- Assist in managing deadlines for students
- Participate in all required marketing activities such as the AFDA festivals, assemblies, open days, awards and graduation ceremonies and consultations with prospective students where required
- Assist with the following functions: class control; course venues, facilities, and resources; publication of course documentation via relevant channels; maintenance of course content; student records (where relevant and in conjunction with Registry);
- Assist in student enquiries on course content and academic support.
- Participate in quality assurance and quality enhancement practices
- Participate in working with counter-parts to ensure parity across all campuses on term outcomes and assessments.

Selection criteria:
- Master’s degree (MBA preferred)
- Established work experience in tertiary education.
- Innovation, entrepreneurship or business leadership experience
- Ability to teach two or more of the following subjects:
- Creativity and innovation
- Responsible entrepreneurship
- 21st-Century Citizenship
- Industry and/or knowledge of the entrepreneurial and creative environment.
