Sudan security agents seize print runs of two newspapers
NISS agents seized all copies of Al-Jarida and Al-Tayar from the printers late Wednesday and gave no reasons for the confiscation.
"Last night after the printing was finished, NISS seized all copies of the Thursday edition without giving any reasons," Al-Tayar's chief editor Osman Mirghani told AFP.
Al-Jarida's chief editor Ashraf Abdelaziz said his newspaper's Thursday edition was also confiscated.
The two dailies seized were among four newspapers temporarily banned from printing last month over reports they ran about child abuse. They were allowed to resume publishing last Thursday.
Security agents often confiscate newspapers over articles they deem inappropriate.
Sudan regularly ranks near the bottom in international press freedom indexes.
