Banksy arrives in SA

The competition is open only to students who are attending a South African university or college and are over the age of 18 years and the deadline for entries is 22 October 2010.

The objectives are to create an iconic piece of creative work that is fresh and relevant to today's contemporary South African popular culture. Contributions must carry a meaningful message that conveys an issue significant to today's cultural socio-political and economic climate. The competition is looking for a unique voice and fresh ways of engaging and communicating the message to the audience. The message should challenge the way people think.

Who is Banksy?

He is Britain's most wanted artist and he really likes that label. He has been doing his thing for the past ten years now. With witty and subversive work, his street art is loud and informative. His identity remains a secret, but with a spray can and some stencils, his art is renowned globally. If you are not familiar with this graffiti artist now, then begin your research at www.banksy.co.uk.
