Last call for Allan Gray Orbis Foundation Scholarship programme

The Allan Gray Orbis Foundation is calling on young learners to begin creating change, through a scholarship programme that focuses on developing the next generation of entrepreneurs. All current Grade 6 learners are invited to apply for the Allan Gray Orbis Foundation Scholarship programme - applications close on 30 September 2020.

The Scholarship Programme is designed to equip the youth with an entrepreneurial mindset to enable future generations to redress the inequalities of the past and to continue the economic and social transformation of Southern Africa.

Successful applicants will be required to write the Foundation exam in Mathematics and English for Grade 6. Following this, successful candidates will be invited for interviews. Recommended candidates will be invited to the placement schools for interviews, and those who are approved by the placement schools will be awarded the scholarship.

The programme aims to produce a confident scholar with entrepreneurial thinking, unlocked potential, leadership qualities, a desire to create value, an aspiration and intention to be a Fellow, an understanding of the culture of community and collaboration, and a positive attitude.

The scholarship covers full tuition and boarding fees (if placed in a boarding school), a monthly allowance (pocket money), a travel subsidy (day scholars only), stationery and prescribed books, toiletries, school uniforms, casual clothing and support for extra-mural activities. Scholars also have access to an entrepreneurial development programme.

During the scholarship, learners will have access to to interactive online learning, workshops, speakers and seminars, and an annual entrepreneurial conference. They will also be assigned a Programme Officer as a mentor and will form part of a like-minded community.
