#MusicExchange: KLA collaborates on new single with Alley and Justin Chalice

“I’ve always wanted to work with Justin Chalice as well as KLA, so I created this beat and I just thought that the two of them together on this track would be magical! And I couldn’t be happier with the outcome,” reminisces Alley on how the collaboration came about.

2020 has been a trying year but “Come Over” is a song to lift the spirits all around.

“The song is about two people that have had a keen interest in one another but throughout their period of friendship, one or the other was involved in a relationship. The song takes place at a time where both parties have both recently ended their relationships, and they chose to finally vocalise/explore their feelings for each other.”

KLA loved working with Alley and Justin on the single:

Alley had created a fun, summer track with Justin and felt that I would add a refreshing female perspective to the song. I liked the idea and sound and agreed to be a part of the story.

Heading into summer with a catchy upbeat dance track for the holidays is a good way to go but as KLA says: “Please be safe as we approach this festive season and stay home as much as you can and don’t forget to sanitise and wear your mask.”

I spoke to KLA last week.

The start of new beginnings and, hopefully, no coronavirus or zombies!

Fame is about:

Being acknowledged and admired by many people and having the access to inspire many as well.

Retirement will happen when:

Honestly, I don’t know because music never dies when it’s part of you.

What does music mean to you?

A perfect way to express yourself. It keeps you company in all areas of your life, one simply cannot live without it.

What is the most enjoyable aspect of your work?

That nothing is ever the same, every day is different. New achievements, challenges and people.

Any funny moments on stage:

A girl who had lots to drink at a club gig came up on stage and performed with me through the rest of my set.

Your heroes:

All those who fought for our freedom in 1976, if it weren’t for them we would not be able to do all that we can do today.

Which living person do you admire most and why?

This is difficult to summarise as I draw so much admiration from many people all over the world, but I would say, Rihanna. She is truly a game-changer, she constantly and consistently does amazing things for the world and speaks to women and girls of all ages.

What is your most treasured possession?

My photo album, filled with memories you often forget; sweet reminder.

It’s your round, what are you drinking?

Strawberry daiquiri, I love sweet drinks!

What makes you stand out?

I think that would be my empathetic nature, I try to engage with my audience as much as possible; I love making people feel.

Love – when you hear it, it just makes you happy. That’s why almost every song ever made is a love song.

‘Snatched’ – this is a term used to compliment someone: “Your waist is so snatched” or “You look so snatched in that dress!”

Pursuing my career!

What do you complain about most often?

Being tired, which is ironic because I love being busy.

What is your fear?

My greatest fear is ending up with the feeling of failure.

Become a different person, my insecurities fall away.

The best life lesson you have been taught:

Do not compare your life to others, comparison is the thief of joy.

To have an explosively successful career that would afford me the opportunity to help others.
