Deal for Congo DTH-OTT delivery

On the inaugural day of the AfricaCom 2019 conference, Eutelsat Communications announced the signing of a multi-year contract with Orao Telecom Congo for video capacity on one of its satellites located at 7 ° East, a privileged position for 'Africa. A first for the African continent, Orao Telecom Congo also joined Eutelsat CIRRUS for distribution of hybrid satellite channels / OTT from Eutelsat.

Orao selected a satellite located in one of Eutelsat’s key positions to launch, starting in mid-December, a package of pay-TV channels of 15 channels with Congolese content consisting of series, films, sports, broadcasts children and news. The SRD package will be broadcast in the Democratic Republic of Congo, while Oro will also leverage the Eutelsat CIRRUS content delivery platform to provide OTT service to the Congolese diaspora worldwide.
“We are delighted to embark on our first satellite broadcast venture with Eutelsat as our trusted partner, bringing high quality, original Congolese content to viewers in DRC and further afield,” said François Mbilo Bompate, President of the Directors Committee of Orao Telecom Congo.
