Labour laws hampering job creation

Finance Minister Pravin Gordhan has warned that the labour laws that were crafted to protect workers could be hampering job creation according to a report published in Business Report today.

Gordhan comments have annoyed the Congress of South African Trade Unions but it could lead to debate about the state of the labour laws in this country, which, analysts claim, are hurting the country's global competitiveness.

Business Report quotes Gordhan as saying that unless the changes are made to the labour laws, there will not be a breakthrough in creating jobs.
