The cosmetic surgery trends in 2021

Cosmetic surgery has become more prevalent in recent years, but interest in surgical procedures has taken a massive leap due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Due to movement restrictions, people were bound to their homes. This led to them becoming more self-aware, engaging in more activities throughout their day that involved the use of social media and other digital communication platforms. This influenced people to be more self-conscious about their appearance, and how others perceive them.
In comparison to other years, the pandemic has caused certain cosmetic procedures to be more popular than others. Here are some of the top cosmetic procedures that are in high demand in 2021.
  • Breast augmentation

Breast augmentation is a type of surgical procedure that involves enhancing the breast to increase its size and shape and improve its volume and symmetry. Women embrace this procedure, because of the significant confidence boost its results give. Many women experience low self-esteem and struggle to feel comfortable in their bodies when they feel that their breasts are too small or sagging due to weight loss or pregnancy.

We asked Dr. Hsu regarding the demand for breast augmentation in Houston; in his response, he said that they would conduct more than 500 breast augmentation surgeries in Memorial Plastic Surgery. But beginning 2020, with more people enjoying the availability of time, money, there’s been a greater demand for the procedure than ever before.

  • Fillers and injectables

People are spending more hours looking at themselves through cameras thanks to Zoom meetings and classes. Therefore, it is more likely for people to feel the need to improve their physical appearance; they realize they need fuller lips, sharper jawlines, crow’s feet, among other facial features.

Fillers and injectables have become more common mostly in 2020 and have been carried along to 2021. Lip fillers are also highly in demand. Wearing masks for most of their days has prompted many people to request this procedure, especially because during recovery, they can hide any bruises or swelling under their face masks. This will allow them to continue going through their everyday routines.

Fillers and injectables are known to provide a younger look. The face experiences a liquid facelift, which is highly effective and non-reversible.

  • Facelifts and brow lifts

Facemasks have influenced many other cosmetic procedures. People need to look good even under the mask, and thus they feel some features need to be lifted. With the brows and eyes being the most visible features while masked, a need to improve them is increasing. A surgical brow lift will ensure that the brows are always on point, and there is no need to wake up and start penciling and shading. Hence the popularity of these face procedures.
Cosmetic surgeries keep on growing every year, but it has truly boomed ever since the coronavirus pandemic. The last year had people getting different procedures to improve their self-confidence, and more procedures are expected to occur this year.
