Primecare's 'Make a Difference' campaign

Endeavouring to make a difference in the lives of those less fortunate, staff and co-workers of the Primedia Group of companies donated tinned food, clothing, toys and books. The Primedia companies filled two taxis and one small open van with gifts donated to three worthy causes - the Masakhane Feeding Scheme in Alexandra, Phelang School for Learners With Special Education Needs (LSEN) in Kwa-Thema and the Carroll Shaw Memorial Centre in Suurbekom, Western Area.

"Each year the Primecare, 'Make a Difference' project becomes more and more successful and is increasingly becoming part of the culture of our organisation, to the extent that various requests have been made to the Primecare Committee to maintain the project on an annual basis and continue to enrich the lives of those less fortunate," comments Issie Kirsh, Chairman of the Primecare Committee.

"The act of giving to those less fortunate has proved to be so emotionally rewarding that some of the Primedia companies including Ster-Kinekor are now conducting the collection on a monthly basis as opposed to once a year," continues Kirsh.

"We really appreciate the assistance that we have received from all the Primedia employees. The food and the clothes will indeed help us make this home a better place to be for the children, as it is difficult to purchase clothing when there is so much more we need to do with the financial assistance we receive," says Rev. Diason Maleka, Chief Operation Office, Carroll Shaw Memorial Centre.

The Masakhane Feeding Scheme as a sign of their appreciation issued the Primecare Committee with a certificate of recognition for their continued efforts, which is now proudly displayed in the boardroom of Primedia Place.

"This project has been highly successful and the magnitude of the contributions is continuously growing. The Primecare Committee have decided to expand the project in 2003 by implementing it on a national basis, with each region choosing a deserving charity to contribute towards every year," concludes Kirsh.
