Introducing the APEX judges

The Association for Communication and Advertising (ACA) has announced a 14 member judging panel, chaired by renowned marketing and advertising consultant Andy Rice, to judge the 2008 Advertising Performance Excellence Awards (APEX).

The panel consists of varied expertise comprising of marketers, senior agency planners, creatives, academics, media owners and researchers; and will judge entries submitted in the three main APEX categories: Launch, Change and Sustain. The selection criteria puts special emphasis on advertising that demonstrates both strategic and creative effectiveness measurable through its contribution to bottom-line business success.

The ACA has scheduled free APEX workshops in Johannesburg and Cape Town on how to prepare a winning APEX entry. They will assist entrants with the compilation of their entries as well as give them pointers of what the judges expect in a winning submission.

The Johannesburg APEX workshop will be held on Wednesday, 26 September 2007 at Harrison's on 12, Cnr 12th Avenue and Wessels Road, from 10am - 12pm. The Cape Town workshop will take place at the AAA School in Cape Town, 4th Floor Manhattan Place, 130 Bree Street, Cape Town on Friday 28 September from 11am - 1pm.

The workshops will be presented by Andy Rice, who has chaired and judged APEX in previous years, as well as other numerous awards including Loeries, FM Adfocus and PRISM.

The APEX volumes containing the complete case studies of previous award winners will be on sale at the workshops. Please bring cash as no credit or debit cards will be accepted.

Entries, which have been opened to the rest of the African continent for the first time this year, will close on 16 November 2007. Entry forms can be downloaded from the ACA website at http://www.acasa.co.za.
