2CANA Solutions appoints new director

He says there was a great deal to learn about business application systems provided by the company to various clients.

At his interview he stated his goal was to become a database administrator. His first promotion was to be an analyst programmer before he commenced training to become a database administrator.

"I took the opportunity and it has been a great ride ever since," says Memela.

He remains hands-on and is currently the business manager for the Oracle DBA team offering consulting services to on-site and remote clients as well as providing technical support to various databases for 2CANA clients in varying industries.

In 2012 he was appointed to the 2Cana executive committee which he says has been a huge learning curve. Being a technical person, the position required a great mindset change. Memela finds that executive-level company issues are a totally different kettle of fish.

As director, the new role presents the opportunity to be more involved in the development and execution of the company's strategy. "Being involved at 2CANA means being one with the vision of the company and that has never been about personal goals. It's the company, our people, our clients. If I can contribute meaningfully to the future success of the company, that would be mission accomplished," concludes Memela.
