Careers24 launches company reviews feature to boost employer/employee relations

Leading online job platform Careers24 introduced a company review feature recently which allows employees to give anonymous feedback about their current or former employers.

According to the 2015 Stats SA report, the average job tenure in 2014 in South Africa was 47 months, the highest it has been since 2008. However, staff retention remains an ongoing challenge for many companies, often because the tools are not in place to ensure companies hire relevant talent.

To assist businesses to attract more relevant talent and ultimately engage with employees who are a good cultural fit, Careers24 launched their company review feature. “This feature was created as a way for people to find and share reliable information about what it is really like to work for companies across South Africa,” says General Manager of Careers24, Marc Privett. “Employees can rate the companies they are working for or have worked for according to criteria such as career opportunities, compensation and benefits offered, management, the culture and values of the company or the work-life balance they experienced there.”

This feedback mechanism is designed to drive employer and employee relationships. “Our goal is to provide jobseekers with tools and services to help them make informed decisions about their next opportunity and at the same time, to provide employers with objective insight into what their employees think and what can be improved to attract new talent,” adds Privett.

According to Privett this new feature is also part of Careers24’s employer branding strategy for organisations. Employers can take the advice posted by their employees on the site and improve their work environment. For example, if a large percentage of the staff of a particular company pinpoint inadequate training on the Careers24 Company Review page, the company in question can take that feedback and provide more adequate training.

Michael Eisner was CEO of The Walt Disney Company from 1984 to 2005 and has been recognised for revitalising that company. He knew the importance of employer branding and he famously said: “As Chairman and CEO, my job is to provide a corporate structure and culture that enables our cast members to perpetuate the values and traditions that fuel the Disney magic... I am, in effect, the chief brand manager. I take my responsibilities as a steward of the brand very seriously: to protect it, enhance it, and try to ensure that it is even more valuable and behaved in the 21st century than it was in the 20th.”

Careers24 already has 2,500 registered South African companies which are available for review and this number is expected to grow daily.

To review a company, all a potential reviewer has to do is visit the Careers24 website, www.careers24.com and click on Companies. One can pick either Company Reviews or Company Directory. Next you search for the company you would like to review, click on Add Review and follow the step-by-step guide.
