Banks back the Africa Investor Nigeria Projects Summit

Africa Investor has announced its Nigeria Projects Summit has attracted record levels of support from leading Nigerian financial institutions at a press conference held in Abuja. Sponsoring institutions include Zenith Bank, Vetiva Capital Management, Oceanic bank and Stanbic Ibtc Bank.

The Africa Investor Nigeria Projects Summit will take place from 16 - 17 June 2008 at the Transcorp Hilton, Abuja, Nigeria. The Summit will showcase and facilitate investor participation in over $5bn worth of pre-vetted investable State and private infrastructure projects. Projects have been drawn from the energy, oil & gas, transport, ICT and telecoms sectors. The Summit will dynamically match Nigerian project developers and sponsors with investors through interactive sessions and facilitated meetings.

Speaking on infrastructure Dr Alhaji Bamanga Tukur, Chairman, Africa investor commented that Nigerian infrastructure is without doubt the tool that will drive the country's economic regeneration. Through the Summit the private sector is responding to President Umaru Musa Yar'Adua's recent call for business to drive the infrastructure investment process to meet Nigeria's infrastructure financing deficit which is estimated to require $6-9bn per annum over the next few years.
