Revamp for sundaytimes.co.za

The re-design of the Sunday Times website, which began towards the end of 2006, is intended is to offer “an elegant and uncluttered experience to the web user bombarded with the noise of traditional news websites”, according to the publishers.

Following international trends, video and audio have become integral to the website. Two weekly sport podcasts form the first phase of the audio expansion, and audio exclusives and a range of new weekly regular podcasts will be launched in the coming months.

Other changes include an architectural overhaul giving constant uptime, improved page load speeds and an industrial-strength advertising platform, simplified navigation and a more intelligent packaging of content. Advertising has also been minimised, giving readers “less visual abuse” and advertisers more exposure with “less negative reader association”.
