BMF to celebrate 10 years of democracy by honouring those who made a difference

The annual BMF Corporate Update dinner, to be held on Friday June 18 at Gallagher Estate in Midrand, promises to bring together the country's key influential and successful business people, while acknowledging and celebrating business leaders and institutions that made significant contributions as either catalysts or icons to the democratization of the country over the past decade.

This will be the first corporate update since BMF President Nolitha Fakude's appointment, as the first woman President of the organization, in October last year. Fakude's address will focus on BMF's plans for the next five years to 10 years.
Marking this premier event will be the BMF Presidential awards aimed at bestowing recognition to those who have shown active involvement in transformation matters such as BEE, women empowerment, business development and education, art and culture.

The BMF Presidential Awards will be awarded in the following categories: Communication and Media; Women Empowerment; Corporate transformation activists (EE and People Development); SMME Development; Education, Arts and Culture; Thought Leadership and Black Consciousness; Youth Empowerment / Entrepreneurship Community Development.

Reserve Bank Governor Tito Mboweni has been confirmed to deliver the keynote address.

With 28 successful years, The Black Management Forum has journeyed along the path of transformation, encouraging the empowerment of black people and the development of managerial leadership within corporate organizations. Constantly operating with integrity, BMF members have stood by each other and channeled their efforts in championing the cause of black business and advancing socio-economic transformation in South Africa and beyond.

''The past decade is certainly indicative of the exceptional milestones that our democracy has accomplished. It is therefore of significance that the BMF has decided to dedicate this year's corporate update dinner to the celebration of our first 10 years of democracy,'' comments Fakude. "We are proud to say that our newfound democracy has enabled us to evolve into being this country's largest association of Black Managers and Professionals, championing the cause for the advancement and development of black management and leadership in business.''

Eskom and FirstRand have come on board as Platinum and Gold sponsors respectively. Tables are still available for the BMF Corporate Update Dinner, and companies can get involved by taking up executive or corporate sponsorship packages.
